4: I inferred that she was upset by the past but her motivation was to follow the traditions. She followed Naomi, because she knew what actions to take. When Boaz was kind and helpful to Ruth, Naomi told her to go with him.
ReplyDelete5: In this case it expresses what true love is all about. It's not about just finding the first in line to marry. It is about finding one that you love and actually want to be around. Ruth chose Boaz because of his good nature. She didn't want anybody else because they lack what he has. Another reason is that Boaz is old. And instead of choosing a younger guy to marry, Ruth chose him. Thus, putting love before age.
8. I agree with it. Because it is not common for women at the time to go with what the men wants them to do and not what they want specifically. They were suppose to follow the tradition, which they did. But they also stood strong and wanted to make their own differences.
2. They are important characters because in the bible and religion women are suppose to be equal to men. This is never the case in society. Men are always superior to women. Women never get their say in what they want. In the Book of Ruth it is said otherwise. Ruth states what she wants and she doesn't let the men control her. This is similar to Naomi. Also the character Boaz agrees to help Ruth in gleaning the crops instead of making her a housemaid. Another thing would be the tradition. This tradition also prove important in the religion and Bible because it shows the faith. But the fact that the two got what they wanted showed that love was an important factor of it too.
4. I inferred Ruth's motivation to just be doing what a widower and woman with two departed sons with no heirs should do. Naomi happened to be the person whom she needed to help in order to make everything right, so she helped her. This is present when Ruth did everything in her power to get to Boaz for Naomi.
ReplyDelete5. The relationship between Ruth and Boaz makes you see that marriage can truly be between two people who love each other, unlike the set up marriages that were usually happened then.
8. I disagree. They both go out to get married just because of tradition, and needing an heir for the family. In no way do they defy social conventions and make their own decisions, because Ruth and Naomi do what society requires them to do, and they go out of their way to do so.
4.I infer that Ruth's motivation is because she already treat Naomi as her birth mother. She think that she already married to Naomi's son, therefore, she has became one of them. Thus, she did not belong to her people anymore.
ReplyDelete5.The relationship between Ruth and Boaz reveals that love can be so simple between two people. Regardless rich or poor.
8.Disagree. The book of Ruth is about love, about the tradition of Christian marriage which it reveals that once one married, the union between husband and wife will become the most important one, even important than the original family where one come from. Therefore, male character Boaz is as important as Ruth in the story.
2.The book of Ruth is so important because that it refers to the tradition of Christian. There are seveal example in the story. Such as to take off one's shoe meaning to transfer one's property. The most improtant one is the tradition of Christian marriage.
4. I inferred that Ruth had no real attachment to her people, and she wanted to be with Naomi who was her mother. Ruth loved her other and really wanted to be with her. She probably wanted to be with the mother of her husband. Couple that and no real belief in her own religion or care about her culture, she was willing to go with her. It had to be more than just wanting another husband, because when the mother said there would be no more than the sister left. Ruth felt an emotional attachment to Naomi. Ruth wasn’t in it for gain.
ReplyDelete5. Love can only be allowed if there is marriage. Without marriage the love would not work out. Boaz denied Ruth the first time because she could not marry Boaz. Once that was settled, Boaz and Ruth could get married and be in love. It almost makes love and marriage seem unemotional. Almost like it is a duty not an act of love.
8. I agree that men take little roles in this book, but I disagree with them defying convention. Ruth just didn’t go sleep with Boaz. She could not get with Boaz because he said so. She had to go through the right, male set, procedures in order to marry Boaz. Naomi did not do anything except return. There were no conventions for her to break.
2. The narrative and the Characters are important because of the meaning of love and marriage that it describes. It tells the proper way things should be handle after you are a widow. It as gives morals on discrimination. It tells that you shouldn’t discriminate just because of religion or place of birth. The Jews welcomed Ruth even though she was from Moab.
